Award Requirements:
Medals and certificates: Certificates will be presented to all students who participate in the CKS Winter and Summer Recitals. Medals and certificates will be presented to all students who participate in the CKS Spring Festival and the CKS Jazz Festival.
Most Improvement Awards: Presented to a student who has fulfilled most of the requirements for a small trophy but, did not complete all of the criteria to earn a trophy.
Senior Trophies: All of our graduating seniors will receive a trophy designating their years of study at CKS.
Small Trophies (CKS Awards for Outstanding Performance)
Minimum requirements for all levels:
- Students must have studied with one of the teachers at CKS for at least 1 full year (12 full months)
- Students must participate in both the studio recitals (December and June)
- Students must participate in the CKS Fall Festival
- Students must demonstrate appropriate class behavior and attitude, which includes being open to suggestions on how to improve their playing and being respectful of their teacher
- Student must not miss more than 4 classes throughout the school year and attend 4 or more summer classes (July and August). Please note: missed lessons during the regular school year do not carry over into the summer session. Students ages 3-12 can also attend a CKS summer camp, which counts as 2 classes.
- Students must receive excellent or superior ratings in each festival in which they participate.
- Students must practice consistently and practice their entire assignments, not just recital and festival pieces.
Specific additional requirements for small trophies by NFMC Festival level:
Pre-primary through Primary 3:
- Theory assignments completed
- Solo event in the NFMC Festival – Optional
Primary 4 through Elementary 3
- Theory assignments completed
- Solo event in the NFMC Festival
- Pick 2-3 of the following:
- CKS Jazz Festival
- NFMC Duet Event
- Composition Festival
- National Guild Auditions
- Community Service Concert
- CKS Keyboard Skills Festival
Elementary 4 through Moderately Difficult 2
- Solo Event in the NFMC Festival
- Pick 3-4 of the following:
- Duet Event
- Quartet Event
- National Guild Auditions
- Composition Festival
- CKS Jazz Festival
- Community Service Concert
- CKS Keyboard Skills Festival
Moderately Difficult 3 and Above
- Solo Event in the NFMC Festival

CKS Gold Awards – These larger trophies will be presented to any student who does the maximum number of events at their level and receives all superior ratings.
